    जवाहरलाल नेहरु (नवंबर १४,१८८९ - मई २७,१९६४) का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के इलाहाबाद में हुआ था। वे स्वतंत्र भारत के प्रथम प्रधानमन्त्री थे।जवाहर लाल नेहरू का जन्म इलाहाबाद में वकील मोतीलाल नेहरू के घर हुआ था। पं० जवाहरलाल नेहरु का जन्म एक अमीर घराने में हुआ था। उनकी माँ का नाम स्वरूप रानी नेहरू था। वह मोतीलाल नेहरू के इकलौते पुत्र थे। इनके अलावा मोती लाल नेहरू की तीन पुत्रियां थीं। नेहरू कश्मीरी वंश के सारस्वत ब्राह्मण थे।
