  Galileo Galilei

Galileo born in Italy, on 15 February 1564 he loved Astrothenomy, which is the study of starts, planets and Galaxies and Maths. He was rude to people and made many enemies, so no one helped him when he was in trouble with the church. He is famous because he is one of the greatest astronomers the world has known. He is often called the Father of Modern Science because he was the first person to prove what he said.

Galileo was bright, but did not do well in his exams. Maths was the only subject he liked .He was sure it would help him find out more about the universe and how things work. And that was what he really wished to know. His father wanted him to become a doctor, but Galileo had other plans. He had heard of Hans’s Lippershey’s exciting new invention, the telescope, which made distant things look larger and nearer. There e were even stories of others who had built the telescope much before Lippershey. Soon, Galileo decided to build one for himself.

  • Topple down  at the same time from, say, the top of a block of apartments, they would hit the ground at exactly the same time.
  • Galileo did not come to India to look for laddus.Instead ;he threw balls big and small, heavy and light all at the same time, from the top of the famous leaning tower of Pisa. They hit the ground together and proved that Galileo was right.
  • He made the first Thermometer to measure changes in temperature and made drawing of many other inventions he had in mind, such as a ballpoint pen and a comb Galileo was arrested and put on trail. His life was spared, but he was kept a prisoner in his house until he died.
  • The Four Satellites of Jupiter, which Galileo discoved, have been named the Galilean moons.
