“Acharya Sushruta, A genius surgeon was widely accepted as the father of surgery and His mastery in the annals of medical sciences amazes every one. He is also considered the father of plastic surgery and science of anesthesia. His detailed surgical procedures given in “ Sushruta Samhita “ were quite advanced whereas during that period in Europe the concepts of surgery were still at the stage of infancy.
His book on surgery prescribes treatment for twelve types of fracture and six types of dislocation.
