Sushruta and Charaka are fictitious figures. After the establishment of Calcutta Medical College, Ayurvedic vaidyans came to know about surgery. So they produced fake Sanskrit manuscripts in the names of Sushruta and Charaka , copied from English medical texts surgery and medicine, and published them claiming antiquity over English surgeons. They had copied Carpue rhinoplasty technique and attributed it to Sushruta. The first Indian surgeon is not the fictitious Sushruta but the real Madhusudan Gupt Gupta was an Indian doctor and the first Indian to dissect a corpse. When the Medical College was set up in Kolkata, Gupta, broke prevalent social taboos and came forward to dissect human corpse. On 28 October 1836, Gupta became the first Indian to dissect a corpse. The British East India Company administration honoured him by firing guns from the Fort William.
Ayurveda at that time did not know anatomy and it did not allow anyone to touch a corpse.
