?He was a renowned astrologer and astronomer ,Varahamihira?s book ?Panchsiddhanta?holds a prominent place in the realm of astronomy.He claimed that the moon and planets are lustrous not because of their own light but due to sunlight .

In the ?Bruhud Samhita? and ?Brushad Jatak? he had revealed his discoveries in the domain of geography, on constellation, botany and animal science which are conceptually advanced .

In his treatise on botanical science, Varahamihira recommends cures for various diseases afflicting the plants and trees.
